Jesus' Final Public Address

John 12:37-50

Introduction: A successful ministry?

1. What was Jesus' final message?
   a) Jesus was 'sent' by God (v44)
   b) Sent from God, Jesus speaks with the authority of God (v49)
   c) The message of Jesus was to point us to God! (v44)
   d) If we have seen Jesus, we have seen what God is like (v45)
   e) Jesus came to deliver us from 'darkness' to the 'light' (v46)
   f) Jesus came the first time to save, not to judge (v47)
   g) The second time we will be judged if we didn't listen to Him (v48)
   h) If we do listen to Jesus, then that will mean life! (v50)

2. Why did so many reject Jesus' final message (... and why do so many do so today)?
   a) They were afraid of being cut off by their friends (v42)
   b) They loved the praise of men (v43)
   c) They didn't want to be exposed and have to change (John 3:20)
   d) God no longer gave them an opportunity to believe (v39-40)
