The Happy Righteous Man

It is one of our favorite Psalms. We quote it to remind ourselves to keep good company and to commit to know and live by God's Word. It directs us in a pathway that conforms with every persons desire to be right. It promises blessing to the one who learns to live in the right. And yet it is the failure to realize this right life that inspires the laments found in many Psalms. The dream goes unmet. And we lament our failings. How will the hope of Psalm 1 be realized? Will it be met through a careful attentiveness to keep all the laws of God? Can we be as careful as the Pharisees? Or will it be met through history's one truly happy, righteous man.
