Meeting With the Jerusalem Elders - The Resolution

This message considers the recommendation proposed by the Jerusalem elders to address the issue of Jewish-Christian misperception of Paul's gospel. This is a challenging passage on several fronts, not the least of which was the elders' concern that Paul demonstrate publicly his own fidelity to the Law of Moses. This aim in their proposal - and Paul's compliance with it - raises questions about their understanding of the Law's fulfillment in Christ as well as Paul's integrity in his own message and conduct. These and other questions are resolved when the passage is interpreted in the light of the transformation of God's covenant household in Christ and what it means for Jew/Gentile distinctions and distinctives.
