Past the Point of Hope
Series The Bible's Famous Chapters
490
The warnings of Amos to the idolatrous nation of Israel fell on largely deaf ears in the midst of a period of unequalled peace, prosperity, and political stability. But underneath that placid exterior was the reality of perversion and corruption. The nation was drifting merrily along on its way, not mindful of the reality that it had passed the point of rescue. The judgment of God would be severe and would be notable for its removing of the ability any longer to hear the Word of the Lord. It is a sobering message that every nation and every person needs to take much to heart.
