2 The Doctrines of Grace

161

Providence is defined as God's all-wise, all-powerful governing and preserving of all His creatures and all their actions. When the Bible records miraculous events, it always does so in order to validate a person's message. Miracles are always directly connected to divine revelation.

  1. When it comes to understanding our salvation experience, how do we make sense of what has happened to us? Salvation is far greater than a moment in time when we first exercise our will to trust Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
  2. If your understanding of salvation is not changing you, then, at best, you have a shallow, hollow view of what God has done and what God is doing.
    a. When you begin to understand the expansiveness of the doctrine of salvation, it is going to effect the way you read Scripture.
    b. There is another result from seeing the expansiveness of salvation as outlined in the Ordo Salutis: How you understand salvation will effect your worship. Our worship flows from our soul. The quality of our worship is determined by the quality of our spirit and the amount of truth guiding us.
Conclusion: The greater you understand your depravity, and the greater you understand the person and the work of Jesus, the greater the grace gap and the greater the worship. How do you understand your salvation? Is it possible to give too much praise to God? Or too much glory? Is it possible to give glory to God that should have gone to another?
