The Great Commission

The message Jesus gave his his apostles is for us to receive and hand on to others. It is about himself, that Scripture was fulfilled in his death and resurrection. Consequently a great change has taken place in humanity's relationship to God. 'God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself.' His kingdom has come. There is hope of forgiveness and a new spirit. Therefore we should leave our old ways and return to him. The situation of today's church is similar in some ways to that of the apostles - 12 men with the backing of others; who could hope for much impact from that? But they had the promise of the Spirit of God and his power to change people's heart. So do we.
