The Marks of a Good Pastor
Series 1 Peter
Thesis: There are many unbibilical thoughts and descriptions of what a "pastor" is. Biblically, he is an overseer, leader, preacher and shepherd. All of these aspects make up a true Christian pastor. And that man isn't to be considered an expert, but is called to be faithful to the ministry in each area of the pastorate.
The Office of Pastor:
- Bishop / Overseer
- Pastor / Shepherd
- Elder / Leader
- Preacher / Teacher
So, what makes a good Pastor?
Must have a personal relationship with Jesus
a. A fellow Witness in the suffering of Christ / MartyrMust have a loving concern for God's Sheep
a. A fellow Sheep among the Sheep he is to ShepherdMust be responsible to his duties among the Sheep.
a. Shepherd the flock
b. Caring for the flock
c. Committed to the flock
d. Exercising oversight of the flock
In conclusion:
Pastors are people who serve the Lord alone. He is their Chief Shepherd. They are men who truly are looking towards that eternal kingdom and reward.
