A Burning and Shining Light

The four witnesses to Christ.
John the Baptist the second witness to Christ.

1. John was knowledgable – a light i.e a lamp (aka candle).
   Knowledge to reveal God, redemption; to guide us, to bring joy and gladness. Our duty is to share this knowledge.
2. John was zealous - burning.
   Zealous for the truth, for worship, for the church. We need to maintain zeal for these too.
3. John was holy - shining. Reverenced by Herod. Our works should shine before men. Holiness begins in the heart (soul), then is revealed in speech and action.
