The Catastrophe of a King

God came to Him in the beginning of his reign with this message: "And the Spirit of God...said...Hear me, Asa...The Lord is with you, WHILE you are with Him; and if you seek Him, He will be found of you; but if ye forsake Him, He will forsake you. Now for a long season Israel has been WITHOUT the true God, and WITHOUT a teaching priest, and WITHOUT law. But when they, in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, he was found (appeared or made clear) of them..." (2 Chron. 15:1-7)

This was the king's life line for the next 30 plus years... until he found himself seeking help from another nation to help him fight against his own brothers. Regardless who he sought help from he didn't seek help, like he had done in the past, from the Lord. So God sent him a new word... a rebuke for Asa but a wondrous word for us today.

Faith doesn't EVER wonder or question if it's right... a man may question himself and even God, but faith never questions Him, for it believes and KNOWS that God is right and it completely trust what God sees and graciously reveals. Asa pushed faith aside and trusted his gut... and the strength of something other than the Lord. It cost him... and pride took over his life and the promises of God became a fleeting memory.

We want to start well... nothing can replace the right foundation but nothing beats finishing well.

May you and I learn to live with our eyes fixed upon Jesus... because He's always looking to do something mighty for those who are focused on Him!
