Politically Incorrect Titus Part 11 ”Presidential Idolatry.”

I Text: Old Covenant: (Daniel 2:31-49)

New Covenant: (Titus 3:1,2) 1Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, 2To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, [but] gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

II Doctrine: The living God of the Bible is not the servant of Men and Nations. Men and Nations are the servants of the living God who directs all of history. This is extremely insulting to all unregenerate people both great and small. Christians are to stand in the midst of a rebellious world and apply the Bible to all of life. We are to be productive citizens and obey the laws of a society that are not in direct conflict with the law of God. God’s covenant people are not endowed with “inalienable” rights. They are blessed with freedoms from God, and those freedoms are also taken away at certain times in History. In both circumstances Christians must seek God’s face and aim to please Him.

III Reasons:

  1. God created a universe of order and hierarchy. All social units benefit from mutual cooperation among the members. Whether it is a tribe, pack, hive, or flock, obedience is a virtue to ensure the survival of a group. (Exodus 1:8-22)
  2. There are rare instances when the leaders of a group must be met with opposition from the lesser magistrates within a group. The resistance must be mitigated and controlled as opposed to revolutionary. (Daniel 3:1-16; https://lessermagistrate.com/the-doct... )

IV Application:

  1. Christians must resist political idolatry and seeking Men to deliver us from our current troubles. We cannot exp
