Two Unchangeable Things

The true Christians among the Hebrews were encouraged to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Therefore, these believers needed assurance of the certainty of the promises of God. The author of Hebrews pointed to the example of God's "layered assurance" to Abraham of the certainty of His promise. God gave both His promise and His oath as confirmation.
