TAKE HEED TO THE DOCTRINE, PART 4
TEXT: 1 Timothy 4:13-16
SUMMARY: The Holy Spirit's work in the world (I) will occur without man's help; (II) will be a spiritual work with spiritual results; and (III) will be eagerly anticipated by God's true saints. (We'll consider the first of these today.)
I. THE HOLY SPIRIT'S WORK IN THE WORLD WILL OCCUR WITHOUT MAN'S HELP.
A. Three views of Revival. The first two prevail today:
- The concept of occasional revivals is not biblical at all.
- Revivals are always God's will, but are conditional upon man's obedience.
- Revivals are larger measures of the Spirit of God poured out by God's sovereign choice.
B. Problems with the Prevailing Views.
C. A Third View Considered: Revivals are Larger Measures of the Spirit of God Brought About by God's Sovereign Will.
