Preaching Boldly

The Whole Armor of God - Message 12 - Preaching Boldly. As Paul concludes his presentation of the whole armor of God he has instructed us to pray always. Prayer undergirds all that we do in spiritual warfare. Constant close communion with God is necessary for standing against the wiles of the Devil. We learn though that we are not only praying about or for ourselves, we are to pray for all the saints. While we apply the lessons of the armor to us as individuals we cannot miss the point that spiritual warfare affects all of us in the church. We are each at war, but we are also all at war together, fighting a common foe. Paul reminds us how important it is that we as the church are to pray for all the saints. He concludes by asking that the saints pray specifically for him as he strives to faithfully and boldly preach the gospel. He asks that they pray for him to have utterance, that is to speak freely and fluently, and boldness, to keep nothing back, preaching without fear of men. His continual desire is to make known the mysteries of the Gospel, those things that we need to know and apply to our lives as we live in obedience to the gospel. We see then at the conclusion of this series that the Church is at war, we are to put on and use the whole armor of God, we are to stand against the wiles of the devil, we are to pray for all the saints, and we are to pray for preachers who will boldly and freely preach the whole counsel of God's Word to the church and the world.
