The Certainty of God's Warnings

213

Though God does not grant repentance to the reprobate wicked, yet he warns them from their wicked ways. This is partly to leave them without excuse and partly to be used by the elect whose eyes are not judicially blinded.

God will have the ungodly know that the only escape from his wrath is through his word. Thus all will be without excuse in the judgment. To the reprobate wicked these warnings, as well as all the means of grace, are ineffectual. Though there may be some temporary joy, yet their light is darkness, their 'faith' is presumption, their fear is despair, and their hope is carnal.

Also, there is a certainty in God's warnings, though their execution is not immediate. Thus we should look assuredly to all God's promises, especially the fall of antichrist, the calling of the Jews, the resurrection of the dead, the last judgment, and his kingdom of glory.
