The Wicked Often Prosper
Series Job series
Much of the Scripture--because Job itself is a large book--is taken up by discourses by three ungodly men. They are only spared the wrath of God by the intervention of Job. They remind us we must continually guard against slipping into thinking we honor God that he will bless our children and us. They believe that God awards the righteous people and punishes the wicked in this lifetime. Job had even tended to think that way. We struggle with the same things that Job did. The book of Job was written for our admonition. The arrogance and self-righteous of three friends become more manifest through the discourses.
God is God and we are his servants. God is unique God is One. God is sovereign. Job will never get the answer why he is suffering. We have to walk in faith and never know why we are suffering. We receive the grace to take our next breath through Jesus, even when we don't get the understanding about painful situations. We know that God has everything under control.
