Lk 19 1-10 The Savior Who Seeks the Lost

6 ( 2 | 4 )

Sometimes when we forget that the God who is working His plan for all of history appoints a time to bring salvation to the heart of one whom He has called at the time for which He has prepared.

We get to watch as God moves in one of these appointed times in the heart of one of the chiefs of tax collectors. Jesus said that He "must" come to the house of Zaccheus on this day. This word speaks of the necessity for this event to happen, as it was a part of God's plan. Being a part of God's plan, it was inevitable that this appointment must take place.

Zaccheus' heart had been prepared as God had been calling him. This is evident in Zaccheus' response to Jesus call. His response was not only an emotional response of "receiving the word with joy" but was an outpouring of desire to make restitution for all those thievings which had marked his career.

Jesus brings this event to a close by stating that "the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost."

As the body of Christ in the world today, are we engaged in this seeking for those whom the Lord is calling...so that He might save them through the preaching of the gospel?
