The Baptist divines highlight the definition, purpose, and people of marriage. According to Scripture, marriage is between one man and one woman and is both a legal and religious covenant. The purpose is for mutual companionship, procreation, and preventing sexual immorality. God has ordained one place for sexual expression, which is the marriage bed. Because it is a creation ordinance, marriage is something that believers and non-believers can enjoy. But believers must marry in the Lord.
