The Water That Divides

For being so well documented in Holy Scripture it is rather amazing that the practice of
Baptism is so fragmented within God's Church. This Sacrament has led to vehement
and at times even violent disagreement between brothers in the Lord, Jesus Christ.
For our evening Confessional sermons we once again pick up our study of the
Heidelberg Catechism beginning with the Heidelberger's long explanation of the
Sacraments, and specifically tonight we study baptism.

1. Baptism is explained in a variety of ways in Scripture.

2. Baptism is used as a symbol for God's promise of the Covenant.

3. Baptism is the beginning of the process of salvation.
