Model the Faith

Too often people try to teach others only by telling them what they should know but are unwilling to demonstrate those things to them. Their attitude is, "Don't do as I do, do as I say." Jotham, however, learned properly by doing what his father did that was right. The Chronicler emphasizes this by noting that he did the good his father had done and turned from the sin his father had committed. We do not have to continue in the sins of our fathers, by grace we are able to break away from them and become strong by ordering our ways before the Lord.
