The Husband as Loving Leader

The thought of authority is a distasteful one to Postmodern minds and ears. The autonomy of the individual is regarded as supreme in the pantheon of verities to be sought after. The decline of biblical regard for authority is infecting the church of Jesus Christ and is having its inevitable results in the crumbling of sound biblical theology and practice. This study series builds upon the previous study of “Postmodernity and Christianity,” which examined the philosophical foundations of the Post Modern view of objective and absolute Truth.

Our previous lessons examined the absolute authority of God as Creator, as Jesus Christ His Son, His Word in Scripture, and as the Holy Spirit. In this section we are giving attention to authority as delegated among men within society. According to scripture there is no authority except as given from God. All existing authority therefore is supported by the power of God who establishes it. Such authority is inescapable for the believer, and is dealt with in biblical admonishments. We have already examined the authority of the state and political entities, authority in gender matters, authority in as it relates to the church, its leadership and its congregants. These last two sessions of this series examine authority in marriage, regarding first husbands and then wives

A course notebook has been developed for this series and is available at a nominal charge, upon request.
