History, The Holy Bible, and Halloween, Part 5. of A Jet Tour of church history

234

We just finished last Wednesday celebrating the Reformation day here at Grace Reformed Baptist Church, by holding an outreach for the glory of God and to disciple all who might come and hear. As we taught about the Protestant Reformation, we discussed Martin Luther and his hanging of the 95 Thesis on the castle door at Whittenburg castle, and how that sparked the beginning of the Protestant Reformation. As we said, Luther never intended to split from the Roman Catholic Church, but in order to continue teaching and preaching the truth of God's Words to the common people, Luther had no choice, because the RCC was not going to allow him to continue to teach against the church and the pope.
His influence is immeasureable in matters concerning Justification and the nature of God and of salvation by Grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus alone, according to Scripture alone, and to the glory of God alone.
If it were not for the Providance of God directing Martin Luther and those events, you and I would be Roman Catholic and still know almost nothing of the Bible, let alone possessing one. With all that, Luther made many mistakes and had some wrong ideas.
As a Baptist, I can appreciate and honor his nobility and his steadfast determination to see the church reformed, and God Glorified. I can rejoice that he would not back down from the fight under any circumstances and he demanded that the church Glorify God and submit to the authority of the Word of God alone. And with that I totally agree, but the problem lies now with the interpretation of Holy Scripture and with areas of Compromise that creep into all area's of life if we are not dilligent. 2Timothy 3:1-9
