Blinded But Seeing

183 ( 151 | 32 )

You may remember, as I do, watching in wonder as you saw the commandments of God miraculously carved into stone in the classic film, "The Ten Commandments." If the heart of a gentile boy in Baltimore could sense the wonder of the moment, imagine the pride that a physical descendent of Abrahamam might feel, contemplating the same scene. The Jews were called out of heathen darkness to be a light to all nations, and they were called by God to keep certain laws and ceremonies in order to set them apart from all others, and to point to the promised redeemer. But over time, many of them began to think that their uniqueness, which was the RESULT of God's favor, was in fact, the CAUSE of God's favor. After Christ's life, death and glorious resurrection fulfilled the Old Testament ceremonial law, the apostles began to proclaim that it was through faith in Christ ALONE, not faith in Christ PLUS endeavoring to keep God's law, that we are saved. There was, in effect, a VEIL over their hearts at the hearing of the Old Testament, and Paul says the same veil remains upon the hearts of all who are perishing. Satan, the god of this age, has blinded the minds of unbelievers. This sermon attempts to prove that truth with a simple illustration of words found on a beach. Pastor Russ says, "I believe this message will inform your mind and feed your soul."
