A Faith Like Simeon's

It has been forty days since the birth of Jesus and his parents bring Him to the temple where Simeon waits to see the Messiah as he has been promised. Holding a six week old child Simeon thanks God and proclaims that Jesus is the salvation of Israel and the Light to the Gentiles.

Pastor Stoos uses the example of Simeon to challenge us to be a people of faith: Understanding the Jesus has come to save His people from their sins, that He has established His Church and that His Kingdom will have no end. Simeon looked forward with great expectation with only the baby in his arms, while we have the benefit of the completed Scriptures and two thousand years of church history to encourage and strengthen our faith! He concludes with a mediation on Psalm 144 where we learn that “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!”
