Simeon's Song

Simeon's song of Christmas is an appropriate song for us to study because it moves
beyond the message found in Mary's and Zechariah's song, and it also expands upon
the message sung by the angels that first Christmas night as well. Through his song of
praise, Simeon reveals that God's great act of redemption – first promised in the
Garden of Eden and spoken of often down through human history – will be a salvation
that will be for "all peoples." Both Jew and Gentile alike will be blessed by this Child
whom Simeon now holds in his arms. In this song of Christmas we see:
