Why a Discipleship Program?

According to Ephesians 4:11-12, the gifts of men by God to the local church are the pastor\teacher and the evangelist (for today). The focus of their ministry is to lay foundational truths in the lives of all believers to bring them to spiritual maturity and to where they can do the same work in the lives of others ("to do the work of the ministry"). In other words, this perfecting ministry is intended to bring every believer in a local assembly into the LEVEL OF THE ONE.

How (his methodology for each level of discipleship) a pastor (or other disciple maker) equips these believers, must be based upon a prayerful and careful evaluation of the levels of commitment and interest of the disciple. However, at whatever level the disciple maker is working with another believer, it should be his goal to move (advance) the disciple to a higher degree of commitment and a closer walk with Christ through INCREMENTAL decisions and change.
