The Unpardonable Sin

Much has been said - and misunderstood - about Christ's warning that there is a sin that will not be forgiven either in this age nor in the age to come.  The fearful person worries they have committed this sin, and cannot be saved.  While it is true that the individual may be so hardened against truth as to be left in their calloused state, Christ's warning is primarily directed against those Jewish leaders who, having plain proof of Christ's status as Messiah, nonetheless close their eyes it, and so consign the Old Covenant people to judgment - opening the way for the New Covenant people of God.
