Some Things Never Change

Jesus Christ has not changed, no matter how much the world morphs around us. Our need to continue in love, in guarding the gift of marriage, in staying free from the love of money has never changed. Our need to find contentment based on God's rock solid promise never to forsake us remains unchanged. All kinds of strange teachings will try to carry us away but the unchanging grace of God alone strengthens wavering hearts.
Jesus alone changed what needed to be changed and he was treated as an outcast ‘suffering outside the city gate' and so we should not be ashamed of publicly identifying with Him. Nothing endures here – we long for the ‘city to come'. Whilst the old sacrificial system is outmoded forever by one true altar there is an unchanging sacrificial worship that we are called to continually offer to God through Jesus that will never change: the sacrifice of praise, the sacrifice of doing good and of sharing this great love of God with others.
