Thanksgiving: Gratitude or Frivolity

This is the true story of Thanksgiving-when the pilgrims assembled and thanking God that they had survived the many sufferings that had been a part of their traveling and settling in a new place, were they MERELY thanking God they had survived. They WERE NOT. They were thanking God that they had survived and could walk in His way. That they had survived and they could worship Him free of frivolity. They could worship Him in doctrine, in truth, in the Bible way. Some things have changed in our practice but these things never will. This is the faith they held. This is the faith we hold. This is the true focus of Thanksgiving. The Word in its depth. The Word in its truth. The Word not used by men but the Word using men. This is what Thanksgiving is about.
