Responding To Jesus: Greatness Redefined

Do you daydream? Me, too. When I was a kid, I dreamt of being an NFL quarterback. Then a submarine commander. And then, occasionally, an astronaut. The star of those dreams – innocent as they seem – was always me.We're meant to outgrow our natural tendency to imagine our own greatness… but often we do not. One day, Jesus caught His disciples daydreaming. They dreamt of their own greatness in the kingdom of God. Eventually their dreaming turned to open debate, perhaps because they all could not be the greatest!Our Savior's gentle, but clear rebuke tempers our tendency to imagine ourselves greater than we really are… and to measure greatness with the wrong yardstick.
