Lamentations 1:1-22 is the first of five deeply moving responses to God's devastation of Jerusalem when He judged His people Israel for their rebellion and exiled them to Babylon.It is a model for honestly expressing our own feelings of abandonment and loneliness in times of tragedy that is faithful to Him who rules over all things and is ever faithful to us.

*Alone as everything has been turned
upside down (1-3)
*Abandoned and emptied out because of
sin (4-6)
*Shamed and violated with none to
help because of sin (7-10)
*Starved and despise -- "Look, O
LORD, and see (11
- Lament over the demonstration
(1:12-22)
- The day of the LORD's anger has
come (12-17)
*The day of the LORD's justice has
come -- "You are right; I am not!"
(18-22)
