The God of Truth

36

One of the things that we value in our society is truth-telling. We expect truth in our justice system, in our business dealings, and in our interaction with others. But many are guilty of twisting or distorting the truth, or outright lying. None of us are totally honest all the time-- except for God. Our God is the God of truth. By truth, we mean that which conforms to or accurately describes reality. Unlike Satan, who is delusional, who is out of touch with reality, our God accurately describes what was, is, and will be. And our God cannot lie. Since God is true, then His Word is true for it accurately describes the condition of man and what will be in the future. Since God is true, then all truth is absolutely true. There is no such thing as relative truth. The opposite of absolute truth is mythology or a lie. Because God is truth, we have a framework by which to view and evaluate life as it really is. Because all truth is God's truth, we do not need to be afraid of learning for it all points to God. The bottom line is: Who are we going to trust? Satan, the father of lies? Or God, the God of truth?
