Road Blocks To Discipleship for High School and College Disciple-makers

42

As the young ministering disciple begins to mature he inevitably hits the road block of self. The ministry ceases to be centered upon him and more and more he finds himself in a servant position, both in his relationship with God and with man. The disciple who is able to turn this corner from being served to serving is the disciple who is able to begin down the road of a life time of fruitful labor. He is the one who asks, not how the church can serve him, but rather how he can serve the church, not how the church can meet his needs but what needs exist in the church which he can meet. He does not leave a church because it no longer meets his needs but rather will be found unhappy and unfulfilled in a church which has not needs for him to meet. To get the disciple though this barrier of self is tricky business and it is important for the disciple maker to know at each level or stage of life what barriers are unique. In this lecture Rev. Mahon emphasizes the barriers which are unique in the High School and College ministries.
