Jesus and the Law as Applied to Discipleship
Series The Doctrines of Discipleship
77
Christ fulfilled the Law. Discipleship is not a law unto believers but rather the expression of Christ's power in the believer apart from the dead works of the law. The use of dead works as a form of atoning sacrifice is the antithesis of discipleship and yet for many, because of a lack of understanding of Jesus' fulfillment of the law discipleship becomes nothing more than a tyranny of legalism rather than an expression of Christ power in the day to day life of the believer.
