Haggai — The Command of God

When God's children neglect the school of grace... He, like any caring teacher, sends a message home to let us know we're deeply missed, there's more work to be done and He's still going to hold us accountable to the truths we've been missing. This is exactly what was going on in Haggis's day. God is saying, "Consider your ways!" Which is saying, "Take a close look at what has been going on with your life and lifestyle!" "Examine your work and it's fruit." "Evaluate your ways, does it all make sense?" "Nothing, outside of the homes you have built for yourselves, is going your way." "You're planting right, in the right soil and the right time, but it's not working the way it should or expect." "Think about it, You're unsettled in your spirit, dissatisfied, disappointed and discontented with the simple things in your life which is going to effecting the significant things in life, your relationships, if you don't resolve this." The chastening was revealed in the physical realm to reveal a deeper and more serious spiritual problem.

The sad part is this... it's twofold! One, they didn't recognize what was going was a spiritual issue until God sent word by Haggai. Even though, God's word has already explained in advance what God would do when His children started sowing bad spiritual seed (Leviticus 26). Therefore, two, they we're scripturally neglectful and ignorant... and as the word teaches us, "God's people do perish for a lack of knowledge."
