Joseph: Delivered from Death

Joseph was a great type or a foreshadowing of Christ but only a type. It was necessary that Joseph be delivered from death. It was equally essential that Christ be delivered to death. No one came to His defense or tried to fend off the soldiers who crucified Him. Jesus had to obey and suffer unto death. He had to bear sin to its exhaustion and keep God's law. Only this righteousness could justify.
