Learning the Secret of Contentment #1
"Circumstances". It's a frightening word isn't it? Our circumstances are the intimate details, the Providential context in which we as Christians walk. And because we are a fallen people who live in a fallen and sin cursed world, to think upon our circumstances at times can be an exercise in horror. The fear of sudden calamity just around the corner can rob us of our joy and peace. Well, the Apostle Paul was no stranger to adverse circumstances, yet he said that he had been taught the secret of contentment. Whether his circumstances were good or bad, Paul had learned to not allow them to disturb the quiet peace of his soul. How did Paul learn this secret? Who taught it to him? And, most importantly, how can we learn to be content? The answer is in the One who strengthens us in all things: Jesus Christ.
