Respecting One Another

130 ( 39 | 91 )

This thirty-seventh message from Romans presents our responsibility to respect each other in the body of Christ. This begins with ACCEPTANCE (favorable welcome) as we give reception to those weak in the faith (doubting, unsettled, fearful). The struggle between the strong (showing contempt) and the weak (showing criticism) was a reality in the church. Paul reproves the weak (lacking conviction) brother for passing sentence on the strong (having confidence) brother. The ASSURANCE of each believer is personal, being based on each one's persuasion. Knowing that life and death are probable, we must never forget that we are the Lord's - our purpose, in life or death, is to always make Him Lord. Our reaction to personal differences must never result in condemnation or contempt. Our reverence for the Lord should only result in conformity to His kingdom (rule) and confession of His allegiance (righteousness). Ultimately, we will each give an account for our choices, bearing responsibility for our actions to the Lord - live focused on Him!
