The Better Way

20

Business that stay in business are constantly looking for the competitive edge, the little technique to manufacture that will produce a better product with less time and cost. For there is a hard way of doing things and a 'better' way which makes something easy and effective. When it comes to church ministry, there's the HARD way of unhealthy competition, unrelenting criticism, and unresolved conflicts. OR there's the EASY WAY, the better way of unconditional love. In a passage of Scripture often cited at weddings, in the context Paul its describing the excellent way of doing ministry. It's the way of love. Without love the spiritual gifts do not work! Ministry flourishes in an atmosphere of love that is patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast, is not rude, does not provoke to anger, keeps no records of wrong, does not delight in inquiry but rejoices in the truth. This kind of love is the lubricating oil which lessens the friction, dissipates the heat, and helps the various members of the church work together smoothly. Besides, love outlasts all of the spiritual gifts. Only love endures and throughout eternity, we will love each other and serve the LORD in the potent atmosphere of LOVE.
