Sabbath Keeping and Works of Necessity

God created the Sabbath to service the needs of man. It is a Day for him to remember the God who has both created and redeemed him. But by the days of Jesus' first coming the blessed refreshment of the Sabbath commandment had all but been lost, buried like a great golden coin under the sediment of the Pharisees' legalistic man made traditions. But Jesus removed the accumulation of man imposed religion and restored the Sabbath to its purity and original intent. In doing so He did not overthrow God's Law, on the contrary, He established it! For the Mediator of the New Covenant is also the Lord of the Sabbath!
