Who Made Man's Mouth?

Confession of the mouth in Romans 10:9-10 has the force of a religious vow, as in Numbers 30:1-2.

But confession apart from repentance or genuine obedience is worthless, as the parable of the two sons teaches in Matthew 21:28-30.

Confession of Jesus as Lord is not merely mechanical or formal. Rather, we understand externalities to be important as they are consequences of genuine faith, but they must arise from a heart that believes in the resurrection of Christ from the dead.
