Putting On A Show

As the epilogue to the Galatian letter unfolds Paul exposes, in verses 12-13, the real design of the Judaizers relative to their compelling the Galatians to be circumcised. Their motive was to make a good impression on those who still embraced the Mosaic Law as a way of salvation. They wanted to put on a good show "in the flesh," that is, in the realm of religious externals. To achieve this they attempted to strong arm the Galatians into complying with their demand.
