The Inner Warfare

John Owen said that temptation draws out the evil that already resides in us. We are deceived if we think ourselves to be good and innately virtuous.

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be." - Romans 8:7

Alluding to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic horror novella, "Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", Jim Snyder, one of our elders makes a biblical case:

Evil resides in all of us, against which we must struggle throughout this life.

Even so, Christ will set His believers free from the presence of sin in eternity.
