Depart to the Gentiles

26

Paul continues with his defense as he describes how he receives his sight in Damascus. He continues to testify who Christ is, the Just One. In his relating of the events to the Jews, he now starts to deal with the issue that will eventually cause them to demand his execution, the fact that the gospel will go to the Gentiles. He introduces the subject by saying Ananias told him that he would testify to all men. Then he relates that he later came back to Jerusalem, showing honor to the temple by praying in it, when Jesus appeared to him again. When Paul tells the Jews that Jesus sends him from Jerusalem to the Gentiles, the Jews stopped listening and started yelling for his death. In Paul's sermon, he starts with talking about how he persecuted the Christians and it ends with his being sent as a witness to the world. Not to the same level, but every Christian has this story moving from hating God to being a witness for Him. May we be faithful in our responsibilities to be witnesses.
