Worthless Sacrifices and Worthless Faith

52

Is God obliged to accept a sacrifice? Israel seemed to think so - but God makes it clear in a number of places that chronic injustice, disobedience and pride were evidence that the heart was unconverted and the outward form of religion was worthless.

The same thing happens with people who think they can use Christianity as a bandaid to cover over the fact that their heart is merciless, disobedient and proud.

What I need is a new heart! My heart is corrupt. It may tremble at the thought of God’s judgment to come – but it rebels at the thought of obeying God, of humbling myself and owning Christ as my Saviour, my Lord, my King, my only hope! My heart is corrupt. It does not love those who can do nothing for me, it doesn’t want to see my money given to them – it is a greedy covetous heart.

YOU MUST HAVE A NEW HEART! This old wicked heart must finally be cut out.
