Lord's Day 47 Put God in the center of all your prayers and your whole life
43 ( 36 | 7 )
Put God in the center of all your prayers and your whole life:
- so pray that we may rightly know God
- and pray that we may rightly confess God
Questions to think about during the sermon:
Introduction:
- From where we look – where we see the sun come up every morning and go down every evening – it seems as if the sun goes around the world. What does that have to do with prayer?
Point 1: - What does the catechism tell us about God’s qualities? So: if we notice God’s majesty or righteousness shining forth in an earthquake or a tsunami, why is that surprising?
- What are God’s works? Does anything ever happen to us that is not a work of God?
- When we pray, hallowed be Your Name, what are we confessing about ourselves? And what are we asking God to do to us?
Point 2: - We confess that God’s amazing qualities shine forth in all His works. What does this say about us and about our lives?
- Why must we pray that God’s name may be honoured and praised because of us? Is this a kind wish on our part?
