Floating iron

In this seemingly trivial event we trace the particular providence of God that brings Elisha to the Jordan river, the way our God supplies our every need (yes, even an iron axe head), and how in the light of God's mercies and faithfulness we - like the sons of the prophets - are to live our lives faithfully serving the God who cares for and protects us. If we discount God's ‘little' providences we make our own god and become guilty of idolatry.
