Yield Yourselves unto God

22

As we return to Romans, the inspired apostle is beginning to explain the implications of salvation by grace alone through faith alone. As we see in out text today, salvation in Christ is not just that Christ paid the debt for our sins as glorious as that is, but it is also the power to live a new life because the one who died for us is also raised for us. And the life we now live, we live reckoning ourselves both dead in Christ and alive in Christ. For Christ has won the victory over sin and sin has been deposed. The power of sin is broken and we benefit from Christ's victory and His reign. And you now must yield yourself to God. But having said all this, we must return to first things. All of the benefits are conditional upon our relationship to Christ. Faith in Christ, in His sacrifice for you is the starting place. Otherwise, we are still under the dominion of sin and the penalty of sin. Because it is in Christ that live, now and forevermore. – Pastor Schlegel
