The Purpose of the Kingdom

When Herod mistakes Jesus for a resurrected John the Baptist, it becomes evident that Jesus might soon become Herod's next target.  Herod had at the same time become fascinated with John, and yet imprisoned him.  Perhaps the same awaited Christ.  While the Son of God is not afraid of Herod or death, yet He knows that His appointed time is not yet come.  His purpose was not to force a confrontation with Herod or any other government leader; but to give His life as a ransom.  So the purpose of Christ's kingdom is to seek and to save the lost.
