2: The Person of Christ

The Bible explains to us that The Lord Jesus Christ was fully God, but also fully man. He had a miraculous conception, and was born to His mother Mary, coming into the world like any other human being, but importantly, without sin!

He did all that anyone with our human nature needs to do. He had to sleep; he could eat, he even perspired (Luke 22:34). And at Calvary, in His humanity, He dies. There was however no confusion or conflict between His two natures.

We would affirm that He was one person, not two. He was the second person of the divine Trinity. In some respects, we may describe these things as mysteries we may not fully understand; but we should not be afraid to feel challenged by them. It is always a good thing to gain a better and clearer understanding about the Lord Jesus, as such study makes us wise against the false teaching of the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Christadelphians, Islam, and others.
