You've Come to the Kingdom for Such a Time as This (Est 4:14)
Intro
H.G. Wells: 'This doctrine of the Kingdom of Heaven, which was the main teaching of Jesus, ... is certainly one of the most revolutionary doctrines that ever stirred & changed human thought.'

What is our role, in the sovereignty of God, as 'fellow-workers for the kingdom of God' (Col 4:11)?

Exposition

  1. Certainty of Salvation: 'If you remain silent, relief & deliverance for Jews will arise from another place.'
    Acts 17:25; Mt 16:18; Rev 5:19; Prov 21:1
  2. Danger of Silence: 'you & your father's house will perish'
    Mt 21:43; Lk 13:6-7; Mt 7:19; Lk 9:62; cf Rom 2:4; Heb 4:7
  3. Potential of Such a Time as This: 'Who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?'
    Mt 3:9

Application:
'Your labor is not in vain in the Lord' (1Cor 15:58; Mt 10:42)

Compare Old Stockbridge OPC 250 yrs after Edwards family.

'This is My covenant with them: My Spirit who is upon you, & My words which I have put in your mouth, shall not depart from your mouth, nor from the mouth of your descendants, nor from the mouth of your descendants' descendants,' says the LORD, 'from this time & forevermore.' (Is 59:21; see Is 65:12; Prov 10:7)

Conclusion:
'These are not dark days. These are great days, the greatest days our country has ever lived. And we must all thank God that we have been allowed to play a part in making these days memorable in the history of our race.' (Churchill)
